How many days are left in the year?
The days left in the year are the days from tomorrow to . Today is not counted, because it has already started. On itself, no days are left.
The counter starts on today’s date. It shows the days left, the weeks, and how many of the days are weekend days. You can also pick another date.
An example: the count for .

Month by month
How many weeks are left in the year on the first of each month?
The weeks left in the year go down by four or five every month. On there are 91 days left, which is exactly 13 weeks. On there are 60 days left, which is 8 weeks and 4 days.
From March on, the count is the same every year. In January and February of a leap year it is one day higher. A leap year has one extra day, , and early in the year that day is still to come. A leap year comes every four years, with rare exceptions, as the National Air and Space Museum explains. The next one is 2028.
| On | Days left | Weeks and days left |
|---|---|---|
| 365 days in a leap year | 364 | 52 weeks |
| 334 days in a leap year | 333 | 47 weeks and 4 days |
| 305 | 43 weeks and 4 days | |
| 274 | 39 weeks and 1 day | |
| 244 | 34 weeks and 6 days | |
| 213 | 30 weeks and 3 days | |
| 183 | 26 weeks and 1 day | |
| 152 | 21 weeks and 5 days | |
| 121 | 17 weeks and 2 days | |
| 91 | 13 weeks | |
| 60 | 8 weeks and 4 days | |
| 30 | 4 weeks and 2 days |
Each count starts the day after the date in its row and ends on . How a whole year divides into weeks is on how many weeks are in a year.
The sum
How to count the days left in the year yourself.
Counting the days left in the year takes two steps. First count the days still to come in this month. Then add the days of every month after it.
Take . November has 30 days, so 29 are still to come. December has 31 days. 29 + 31 = 60 days left.
The months are not all the same length. April, June, September and November have 30 days. February has 28 days, or 29 in a leap year. Every other month has 31.
To turn the days into weeks, divide by 7. 60 ÷ 7 = 8, with 4 days over, so 8 weeks and 4 days are left.
A second way uses the day’s number in the year. In a year of 365 days, is day 305, and 365 − 305 = 60. The counter above shows this sum for today.
The rest of the year
What a few minutes a day adds up to by December 31.
A few minutes a day still adds up before the year ends. Take half an hour a day, started on and kept up to . That is 60 days × 30 minutes = 1,800 minutes, which is 30 hours.
One hour a day over the same 60 days is 60 hours. That is as much time as one and a half work weeks of 40 hours.
The planner below does the same sum from today, for the minutes you choose. A plan like this for October to December has a name online, the winter arc, and that page has the sum for other start dates.

Your own days
How to see where the rest of your year goes.
A count of the days left in the year does not show what those days get used for. To see that, write down what you did each day, in plain words, and add up the hours. Doing this every day is called time journaling.
For a quick first picture, the Where did my week go? calculator turns one usual day into a week of hours. The year counted in hours is on how many hours are in a year, and its weekends are on how many weekends are in a year.
A plan for the last weeks of the year is easy to make. By December it is hard to say how many hours the plan really got.
It helps to have the hours counted from a few words you write or say about your day, so there is no timer to start and no form to fill in. Most journaling apps ask how the day felt. They do not add up how many hours went to the thing you planned.
One app built for this is Think in Numbers, a smart journaling app with time tracking built in.
You write or say your day in your own words, as it happens or all at once. The app reads what you wrote and counts the hours that went to each part of it: work, sleep, reading, exercise, your phone, and the time you never mentioned (shown as unaccounted). Then it shows those hours over days and weeks. So you can see, week by week, how many hours the rest of your year really got. Add your half hour a day as a habit, and the app ticks it off when the hours you wrote reach it, so the streak runs to December 31.

Questions
Questions people ask.
How many weeks are left in the year?
The weeks left in the year are the days left until December 31, divided by 7. On October 1 there are 91 days left, which is exactly 13 weeks. On November 1 there are 60 days left, which is 8 weeks and 4 days.
How many days are left in the year?
Count the days still to come in this month, then add the days of every month after it. On November 1 that is 29 more days of November and 31 days of December, which makes 60 days. The counter on this page shows the count for today.
Does the count of days left in the year include today?
No. The usual count starts tomorrow, because today has already started. On December 31 no days are left. If you want today counted as well, add one day.
Are there more days left in a leap year?
Only in January and February. A leap year has 366 days, one more than a common year, and its extra day is February 29. Before that day, a leap year has one more day left than a common year. From March 1 on, the count is the same every year.
What does half an hour a day add up to by the end of the year?
Multiply the days left by 30 minutes. If you start on November 2, there are 60 days up to December 31, so half an hour a day adds up to 30 hours.
How do I keep track of what I do with the rest of the year?
A wall calendar is enough: pick one thing to do every day and mark each day you did it. A notes app does the same job. Whatever you use, try to write down how long you spent, so you end the year with hours and not only marks. One app built for this is Think in Numbers, a smart journaling app with time tracking built in. Think in Numbers counts the hours you gave to each part of your day from what you write or say, and shows them week by week. Your one thing can also be a daily habit in the app, ticked off from what you write about your day.
